Acapulco is located in the homonymous bay along the southern central coast of Mexico. It was the first town in Mexico to become famous thanks to its divers. Many years ago (and for just a few dollars), these divers used to perform spectacular dives for the tourists’ pleasure.

Acapulco (population 800,000) enjoys a mild climate nearly all year around, thanks to its geographic position. The rainy season lasts only from May to September. Among the things that make Acapulco one of the most interesting towns in Mexico are the:
-crazy nightlife and night clubs
-shopping malls
-luxury hotels
-discotheques
-last but not least the beauty of the beaches located nearby
Acapulco is divided into three areas:
-Acapulco Nautico(in the eastern part), the old, historic part of the city
-Acapulco Diamond, a new luxury tourist resort with many amenities facilities
-Acapulco Dorado, situated along the bay
The famous La Quebrada divers are capable of dives that astound visitors. They jump with grace and elegance from dangerous heights of 45m into very small, tight crevices. Hence, it is not strange to see them praying near a small sanctuary, just before jumping. The bar of the El Mirador Hotel affords an excellent view of the divers.
For quiet beaches, visitors should go to Pie de la Cuesta. A beautiful view of the bay of Acapulco can be enjoyed by walking the road to Puerto Marqués. South of the Peninsula de las Playasis the so-called submarine sanctuary. It is a bronze statue, representing the Virgin de Guadalupe, situated at the bottom of the sea.
